Bob's Red Mill began with a single wheat kernel and a mission to create a healthier life for all families with nutritious whole grains. Bob and his wife Charlee were living in California when Bob came across a book about milling and flour production. Soon after, Bob and his family took a chance and founded their first flour mill without any prior experience, unknowingly changing future generations' lives.

After tremendous success, Bob and his wife chose to retire. Soon after, they stumbled upon an old feed mill and decided to take a leap of faith and inaugurate what is now known as Bob's Red Mill Natural Foods. This time, Bob's Red Mill offered more than just healthy whole grains and expanded its product line to include certified non-GMO and gluten-free products to the world-wide market. Besides providing nutritious products, Bob wanted to ensure that he could significantly impact the world. For this reason, Bob partnered with countless organizations to help end hunger, child obesity, improve inflammation and gut health, and provide health and nutrition education to millions. He also made every employee and owner of a stock of Bob's Red Mill.
