Makes: 40 cake bites
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 15-22 minutes
Cooling Time: 30 minutes
Decorating Time: 20 minutes
Total Time: Approximately 1 hour 30 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix, plus ingredients required on the box  (or your favourite homemade chocolate cake recipe)

  • 1 box UNREAL Dark Chocolate Coconut Bars, cut in half

  • Non-stick cooking spray

  • White cookie icing

  • Silicone cube tray or mini muffin tin

  • Optional: Halloween sprinkles or spooky decorations

Directions

  1. Prepare the cake batter: Preheat the oven according to the temperature listed on your chocolate cake mix and prepare the batter according to package directions. Alternatively, you can use your favourite homemade chocolate cake recipe.

  2. Prepare the pan: Lightly spray a silicone mini cake mold with non-stick cooking spray. A mini muffin tin can also be used.

  3. Fill the molds: Add a small amount of cake batter to each cavity, it should be a little bit less than half way full. Place half of an UNREAL Dark Chocolate Coconut Bar in the centre, then cover with a little more cake batter. Don’t overfill leave some room for the cakes to rise, there should be about a quarter of the cubes space left at the top.

  4. Bake: Bake for approximately 18–25 minutes, or until the cakes are cooked through. Baking time may vary depending on the size and depth of your mold.

  5. Cool: Allow the cake bites to cool completely for approximately 30 minutes before carefully removing them from the mold.

  6. Decorate: Working with one cake bite at a time, make a large circle around the entire outside of the cake bite, then a smaller circle inside that one, then a tiny circle in the middle using white cookie icing. Work individually so the icing doesn’t set before you create the spiderweb.

  7. Create the spiderweb: While the icing is still soft, use a toothpick to drag lines from the centre outward toward each of the four corners. Repeat around the cake bite, adding additional lines between each section to create a spiderweb design.

  8. Finish: Add your favourite Halloween sprinkles or spooky decorations, or leave them with just the spiderweb icing. Enjoy!
