Savory. Crunchy. Protein packed.
Afar is flipping the script on protein bars with a bold new approach that skips the sugar and brings the umami flavour. These savoury, plant-based bars are made with real ingredients like edamame, nuts, and seeds, delivering 10 grams of protein and just 3 grams of sugar.
No chocolate coatings. No dessert disguises. Just globally inspired flavour combinations like Mexican Chili Lime, Italian Bruschetta, Indian Masala, and Japanese Miso. Craveable crunch, nourishing ingredients, and a fresh take on savoury snacking that finally feels like something new.
Most protein bars taste like the same tired dessert in different wrappers. Afar decided to do things differently.
It started with a simple idea from founder Gene Zhu: what if a protein bar didn’t have to be sweet at all? What if it could be something savoury, flavourful, and snackable without pretending to be candy? After many test recipes, the first Afar bar came to life. Packed with roasted edamame, almonds, brown rice crisps, and bold seasoning blends, it was crunchy, satisfying, and nothing like the rest.
Each bar is built on real, plant-based ingredients and seasoned with inspiration from around the world. Mexican Chili Lime balances smoky ancho heat with zesty citrus. Italian Bruschetta mixes tomato, olive, and herbs for a rich, savoury bite. Indian Masala brings warm spices like cumin, coriander, and turmeric to the forefront. Japanese Miso layers sesame, ginger, and umami depth. Even their Everything Bagel bar leans into the comfort of garlic, onion, and sesame for a salty, crunchy fix.
With 10 grams of protein, only 3 grams of sugar, and no artificial sweeteners, stevia, or sugar alcohols, these bars are made for real snacking moments. They’re great for travel days, work breaks, post-gym fuel, or anytime you want something a little salty, a little savoury, and a lot more interesting than what’s already out there.
Made in small batches in Brooklyn, Afar bars are vegan, and completely unlike anything else in your pantry. It’s high protein snacking with flavour first. Because sometimes you’re just not in the mood for sweet. And that’s exactly where Afar comes in.
