Step up your breakfast game with a touch of BBQ & feel ‘toast-ally’ awesome all day! Dive into fluffy, char-marked french toast kissed by cinnamon & pure maple syrup, topped with sweet, smoky peaches. This grilled treat is as peachy as it gets!
Gluten-Free, Vegan, Dairy-Free
Ingredients:
1 cup unsweetened almond milk (or other non-dairy milk)
1/4 cup cornstarch
1 teaspoon ground flaxseeds
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 teaspoons pure maple syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla
6-8 slices The Grain Escape bread
For Serving: Maple syrup, powdered sugar, or fresh fruit
Directions:
1. In a shallow bowl, wide enough to hold a piece of bread, whisk together the milk, cornstarch, ground flaxseeds, baking powder, cinnamon, maple syrup and vanilla.
2. Heat up your BBQ or stovetop grill - you can add coconut oil if using a stovetop grill, otherwise the BBQ won’t need any oil.
3. Place your dipped bread onto the grill, about 5 minutes per side to get those nice char marks.
4. Serve with maple syrup, powdered sugar and grilled fresh fruit (like peaches), if desired. You can also top with with nut butters, apricot jam, caramel syrup or organic date syrup.
